Don't commit to your Reformer Pilates instructor training course before reading this!

Reformer is definitely enjoying its time to shine right now and I absolutely love the incredible versatility it provides for training.
The problem is that not all reformer classes are created equal 😳 Don't get me wrong: there is something for everyone and one size does not fit all.

Many training providers teach that there way is the only way, the holy grail of Pilates and quite frankly they are wrong because

everyone is individual!

A Reformer training course - like any other training course - shouldn't be restrictive and instead should aim to expand your mind. Excellent courses teach you frameworks, concepts and skills which are the important building blocks for you to flourish delivering workouts that fit with your own style and the people you want to serve.
You may already know whether you want to teach Contrology (Joseph Pilates way), the Classical style or a more Contemporary approach to Pilates Reformer. But equally, the fact that there are differing styles may not be something you were aware of at all!

There are also different options for study available: apprenticeships, in-person training courses, blended learning, self-study and live online.

What is right for one person is not necessarily right for the next.

So you need to think about what you want to do once you've trained to teach. Do you want to teach in large group Reformer studios, set-up your own 1-to-1 rehab business from your home or work in a Classical Pilates studio? Perhaps you want to run retreats or Pilates holidays. Maybe you want to teach at the beach or in the park. Each of these will necessitate different skills and not all teach training courses will be the right option.

I've started to put together a library of interviews with Pilates teachers who trained with different schools. It's not the education provider trying to sell to you, instead you'll hear about the genuine experiences of those who have been through the training journey.
My hope is that this will help you to choose the best provider for you.

Check out the interviews here.
