The Pilates method was created by Joseph Pilates and his system was called Contrology. Since his death in 1967 many different styles and methods of Pilates have emerged through different teachers and changing scientific evidence.
It can be confusing trying to navigate those different styles to the point where you might start to wonder what Pilates is!
With The Pilates Choice I aim to provide a platform of learning and connection without judgement. Where each style of Pilates can be promoted and where teachers, studios, students and clients can find understanding and connection.
If you're a Pilates instructor or teacher you can promote yourself and search for work in Pilates Studios actively recruiting staff all for free.
If you're a Pilates Studio you can promote your studio and look for new talent in your area to join your team without charge.
If you're a budding, blossoming or blooming Pilates enthusiast you can search for Pilates instructors and Pilates Studios near you and online.
If you're interested in training to teach Pilates you might be interested in my interviews with students who have followed different training pathways with different training providers. These will give you insight on the training itself through the eyes of a student rather than a salesperson. Check out the reviews here.
Pilates is one of many forms of movement with many subcategories: Contrology, Classical Pilates, Contemporary Pilates, Fitness and Dynamic ... you might even describe yours style in your own unique way. We don't all enjoy the same thing and being frank, all movement is good movement so finding something you enjoy is your best bet at sticking with it and therefore seeing the results you want to achieve.
So, you can treat this place a bit like a dating app and search for your perfect Pilates match - whether that's an Instructor, Studio or a Pilates Education Provider.
In the future I'll be adding links to useful Pilates resources, podcasts and publications so keep a look out!
